Glossary and Explanation of terms
Meta Tags -- HTML code at the top of a webpage (in the HEADER). Probably the most important part of your webpage as far as the search engines are concerned.
Optimization -- When search engine spiders or crawlers visit your site, they expect to find a delicate balance of keywords in the 10 different areas of an HTML webpage. If there are too many keywords in certain areas and not enough in others, you pages will not rank high on the search engines. Optimization is an analysis of all 10 areas of your webpage to ensure the proper balance of keywords.
Themes -- search engines rank pages according to the content of the entire website For example, a website with 10 pages about various aspects of baseball will rank higher than a site about baseball, tennis and football. |
